Volunteer Roles

Description:

This position, which exists for the EAB Clinic, the EAB Mental Health Clinic, and M-Power, is responsible for seeing the patient before the physician. During this initial visit, the student will take a history and as much of a relevant physical as possible. The medical H&P student will then present the information to the physician before they both visit the patient in order to make a final assessment and plan.

Requirements:

Volunteers for this position must currently be in medical school at UAB.

Description:

This position, which is currently only at the EAB Clinic, is responsible for joining the medical H&P student in order to cooperatively take a history with a pharmacotherapy emphasis. The pharmacy H&P then presents to the physician and pharmacist with the medical H&P before going to see the patient to make a final assessment and plan.

Requirements:

Volunteers for this position must be enrolled in one of the nearby pharmacy schools (Auburn or Samford).

Description:

This position is responsible for filling and dispensing medications at EAB. The dispensary leader’s duties include medication prescription entry into the pharmacy database, filling prescriptions, and managing any dispensary assistants.

Requirements:

Volunteers for this position must be in medical school at UAB or in pharmacy school at either Auburn or Samford.

Description:

This position is responsible for working with the dispensary leader in order to manage and fill incoming prescriptions.

Requirements:

Volunteers at this position can be medical students at UAB, pharmacy students at Samford or Auburn, or pre-med undergraduates at UAB.

Description:

This role is an opportunity for both pre-med undergraduates and MS1's to experience the clinic first-hand. For undergraduates, this is a good way to take a look into the medical field. For MS1's, this role is a great opportunity to become familiar with the clinic for later volunteering.
